I\u2019m starting a new feature: desktop Thursdays.\u00a0 Yes, I know it\u2019s not Thursday\u2014but I took this picture on a Thursday!\u00a0 Every Thursday (\u2026.that I remember to do it), I\u2019ll take a photo of some aspect of my desktop and do a little explanation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Because how could I not be inspired by what I noticed yesterday?\u00a0 I was on the phone to a friend, making plans and tidying up, and I realized the armadillo\u2014the first present anyone gave me on my wedding weekend\u2014and the slice of cake\u2014which my best friend sent me for Christmukkah\u2014were destined to be together.\u00a0 They were both rubber!\u00a0 Both small and cute!\u00a0 Both a little lonely amid the paperclips and wanting to connect.<\/p>\n

Then\u2014lo, fuzzy chick!\u00a0 Speaking of paperclips\u2014she\u2019d been exiled among them because she couldn\u2019t stand up so well on her own, and frankly, she needed a little more proppage in this picture.\u00a0 And then the origami frog I made two Christmukkahs ago, to entertain myself during some slightly laggy conversation\u2014presto.\u00a0 He had a home, too.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m psyched about my rubber, fluff and origami menagerie.\u00a0 I plan to keep adding to it.\u00a0 (Ooh!\u00a0 Should the bluebird wind-chime from my former advisor join the party?)\u00a0 Laura Wingfield will have nothing on me\u2026.<\/p>\n
