{"id":324,"date":"2010-04-12T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2010-04-12T14:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jessicaleader.com\/blog\/?p=324"},"modified":"2010-04-09T15:30:12","modified_gmt":"2010-04-09T20:30:12","slug":"324","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jessicaleader.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/324\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Appreciation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"librarian\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_J2kN4Yp7lWo\/SgIa3gQ_0UI\/AAAAAAAAApQ\/SZwH-LhGujA\/S742\/sexy-librarian.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"287\" height=\"216\" \/>We Need You Badly, Badly, Madam Librarian\u2014Miss Shannon!<\/h1>\n<p>That phrase doesn\u2019t scan as well as \u201cMarion the Librarian\u201d in <em>The Music Man<\/em>, but Louisville\u2019s Portland library does indeed need its Miss Shannon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here to get Miss Shannon&#8217;s take on the fun, power, and yes, quiet, of working in a library is my after-school reading class.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Aneesha<\/strong>: What do you do most of the time?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Shannon<\/strong>: I help people when they\u2019re working on the computers.\u00a0 I also answer questions like, \u201cWho was the forty-first president?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Malcolm<\/strong>: Do you have to be quiet to be a librarian?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Shannon<\/strong>: No.\u00a0 That\u2019s an idea from a long time ago.\u00a0 Twenty-five years ago, this job was just about libraries.\u00a0 Now, it\u2019s about helping people find information, and it\u2019s important to be able to give information back and forth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phillip:<\/strong> Is it fun to be a librarian?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Shannon<\/strong>: My job is just wonderful.\u00a0 I love best to read, and I love stories and crafts.\u00a0 I love finding information for people and learning new things.\u00a0 And I like meeting new kids, too.\u00a0 You know, my dog died on a Sunday, and first thing on Monday morning, I went in to read to kindergartners because I knew it would make me feel better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daryl:<\/strong> When I went to my dad\u2019s house one day, a dog got ran over.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Shannon<\/strong>: Do you have a question about libraries?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phillip<\/strong>: If somebody wants to check out a book, can you help them with that?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Shannon<\/strong>: I can do everything.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>p.s.
