{"id":729,"date":"2010-12-08T14:08:30","date_gmt":"2010-12-08T19:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jessicaleader.com\/blog\/?p=729"},"modified":"2010-12-08T14:13:21","modified_gmt":"2010-12-08T19:13:21","slug":"under-pressure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jessicaleader.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/under-pressure\/","title":{"rendered":"It Never Rains but it Pours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.steadyburn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/freddie_mercury.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know I have been super extra MIA lately, but I&#8217;ve been focusing on Major Life Things. \u00a0Everything is great, just not very condusive (conducive? yes, the red squiggly tells me it&#8217;s &#8216;conducive&#8217;) to blogging.<\/p>\n<p>What it is conducive to, however, is getting obsessed with a single song, which often happens in times when things are pushing down on me, pushing down on you. \u00a0And yes, I&#8217;m talking about the Queen song Under Pressure, a version of which you can watch below. \u00a0(It&#8217;s not actually that interesting to watch, but the other versions showed buildings collapsing, and I found that deeply disturbing.)<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NpBVZDnV8yI\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NpBVZDnV8yI<\/a>\n<p>The play that I was just working on&#8211;the one that a high-school senior directed, and I mentored&#8211;went up this weekend, and one of the many amazing sound cues designed by said senior was Under Pressure. \u00a0It just stuck in my brain and all I seem to be able to do is watch and listen to Youtube versions of this song, from &#8220;Sing-Off&#8221; (which I foresee myself getting addicted to at some point in life) to the Freddie Mercury tribute by David Bowie and Annie Lennox. \u00a0I&#8217;m not going to post that last one because frankly, it&#8217;s a little weird. \u00a0You&#8217;re welcome to go looking for it, and I certainly endorse a David Bowie viewing, because I happen to find him sexy, but while I find Annie L. quite attractive as well, she&#8217;s just a bit odd here. \u00a0Oh, heck, now maybe I&#8217;ve made you curious, so I&#8217;ll include her as well, and whether you watch or ffwd to the end, tell me if you don&#8217;t think, &#8220;By gum, that is a little weird.&#8221;<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Annie Lennox &amp; David Bowie\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eRyolzoi13Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>More next week, I hope!<\/p>\n<p><em>This is our last dance<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is ourselves&#8230;under pressure. <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know I have been super extra MIA lately, but I&#8217;ve been focusing on Major Life Things. \u00a0Everything is great, just not very condusive (conducive? yes, the red squiggly tells me it&#8217;s &#8216;conducive&#8217;) to blogging.
